Start a New Morning Routine this Autumn

Autumn is all about the cozy. Getting comfy curled up next to a fire with a warm cup of coffee or tea. Autumn is the perfect time of year to shake up your morning routine. Making changes to promote healthier habits will improve our physical and mental health, helping us stay focused and productive.

Add a Morning Workout

If you don’t already have a morning workout, autumn is the perfect time to add one to your morning routine. This time of year can be hard to get up and going in the mornings. Especially with the weather cooling down, the days getting shorter and darker. However, adding a morning workout is a beneficial way to start your day, giving you more energy, and it’s a great way to practice self-care. Morning or not, adding a workout to our day benefits our physical and mental well-being.

Include Using a Daily Planner

Taking time during your morning routine to plan out the day and weeks ahead is a practical way to reduce stress and help you set and achieve realistic goals, positively impacting your daily life. Use a daily planner that fits your needs best. A planner with monthly or weekly calendar pages can help you plan in advance. Every morning, sit down and see what is on your schedule for that day. Make notes, to-do lists, or even just brain dump. Whatever you need to get your day in order.

Express Gratitude

Using your planner as a micro journal can allow you to start your day on a more positive note. Reflect on different areas of your life and the things you are grateful for. Even reciting a gratitude mantra out loud or jotting different ones down in our journal or planner can bring extra positivity to your daily morning routine.

Eat a Healthy Breakfast

Breakfast, while not mandatory, can help to get your day on the right track by preventing you from morning fatigue and from becoming hangry. Do something good for your body and fuel it with whole foods that are full of vitamins, minerals, and proteins. Go for fresh fruit, eggs, oatmeal, and a filling and nutritious breakfast. We are what we eat, so steer clear of processed foods and those with lots of added sugars. What could be better for daily self-care than doing something good for your body?
